CONSERVATION ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Our Conservation Entrepreneurship programme is aimed at encouraging and supporting the empowerment of young Kenyans through businesses and enterprises that foster sustainable livelihoods. We achieve this by shining the spotlight on successful conservation entrepreneurs who showcase their projects on our advocacy platform and eventually act as mentors to other aspiring individuals, as examples of conservation best practice models.
Project 1: Conservation Entrepreneurship
Uvumbuzi Africa believes that businesses of all sizes play a vital role in conservation and help grow the economy. We work to support social enterprises whose business models are moulded around reducing the pressure on the environment and supporting socio-economic growth of young Kenyans.
Through our conservation entrepreneurship program we have been able to offer support to community based, sustainable conservation projects such as the Marafiki Green Leaders, aimed at creating employment opportunities for youth and women through environmental stewardship. Through this program we aim to sensitize citizens and youths in particular, that one can earn a living out of conservation initiatives such as up-cycling by showcasing existing success stories and linking them with other youth carving a sustainable livelihood through environmental stewardship.
